App designed for security begins operation at the Santos and São Sebastião Ports

In the last week, the Accident and Incident Communication app came into operation, aiming to integrate and streamline communication between terminals and authorities at the time of occurrences, accelerating joint actions and minimizing possible information mismatches.

From now on, the terminals located in the port complexes of Santos and São Sebastião, located on the coast of São Paulo, will use the new tool.

The app was developed in a joint effort between the National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ), the State Commission for the Prevention of Accidents and Incidents at the Port Complex of Santos and São Sebastião (Cepai/SP) and the Developer WA – Sistemas, to facilitate the exchange of information on port security.

The tool has the participation of 61 companies, including tenants, private use terminals and operators, in addition to the participating bodies of Cepai/SP. So far, 90% has adhered, totaling 260 employees involved. The app has been tested since December 2022 and, with it, it will be possible to classify events by severity, number of victims and summary of what happened, in addition to inserting images of the occurrence and monitoring the records.

Work group

To enable the development of the app, representatives of the mentioned leased terminals were involved: Private Use Terminals (TUPs), port operators, the Brazilian Navy, Federal Police, Military Police of the State of São Paulo, Port Authority of Santos, Port Authority of São Sebastião, Commission for the Prevention of Accidents at Work in Ports (CPATP), Fire Brigade of the Military Police of the State of São Paulo, Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo, National Federation of Port Operations (FENOP), Port Guard of the Port of Santos, Work Inspection–(SIT), Ogmo de Santos, Ogmo de São Sebastião, Transpetro Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), Union of Port Operators of the State of São Paulo (Sopesp), Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP), Brazilian Association of Liquid Terminals (ABTL), Brazilian Association of Chemical Industry – (Abiquim).
