Svitzer expands operations in Brazil

Svitzer, a towage provider and part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, announced the expansion of its presence in Brazil.
The decision was made by the company in order to provide operations and services at the Port of Salvador, including Aratu Port Complexes.
In particular, Svitzer aims to deploy two modern and high-powered tugs, Svitzer Jamil Darian and Svitzer Zoe, in the Port of Salvador to attend to its diverse portfolio of customers in the region.
According to the company, Svitzer’s two modern tugs will bring new possibilities for more complex manoeuvres and assistance of different ship sizes at the Brazilian port.
In addition, Svitzer has hired a total of 12 crew members, who have undergone training, creating jobs for those living in the region.
Svitzer also announced a new build programme consisting of six new tugs, the first of which was delivered and put into operation in the Port of Pecem in Brazil earlier this month.
