Porto Alegre Port has reported a throughput growth of 6.66% for the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year. The commercial harbor handled 193,951 tonnes of cargo, while in 2022, it handled 181,839.
During the last 90 days, the Porto Alegre Port saw 33 ships carrying out solid and liquid bulk and general cargo operations—highlights for fertilizer production inputs, barley, beef tallow, and electric transformers.
According to Matheus Evangelho, Porto Alegre Port’s operations manager, the increase in cargo throughput illustrates the port’s collaboration efforts with the state authorities, as seen in the rise in tax collection and the port’s insertion into wider logistics chains.
