According to the latest report by Hamburg Süd on the situation of Latin American ports, which shows that the ports in this geographical area are not experiencing congestion or delays in serving container ships.
For a set of ports monitored by the subsidiary shipping company of Maersk, the waiting time from the arrival of a ship is less than a day.
According to Hamburg Süd, the ports of SSA Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Altamira, and Veracruz in Mexico, as well as Moín in Costa Rica, Balboa, Manzanillo, PSA, and Cristóbal in Panama, maintain this level of attention.
The same occurs in Cartagena, Buenaventura, Santa Marta, and Turbo in Colombia, Guayaquil in Ecuador, Callao in Peru, Valparaíso, San Antonio, and San Vicente in Chile.
This scenario is repeated on the east coast. The wait is less than a day in Santos, Paranaguá, Itajaí, Itapoa in Brazil, Montevideo in Uruguay, and Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Despite the above, Hamburg Süd warned that times could be altered in Latin America due to weather factors.
“In Latin America, we should expect closures due to severe weather in Chile and Mexico until May, but without a significant impact on alignments,” the shipping company said.
