Authorities in Brazil seized 28.5 kilos of cocaine hidden in a container of frozen chicken at the Port of Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná, on Friday morning (21). The operation was carried out by the Federal Revenue and the Federal Police.
The container was destined for Rotterdam, in the Netherlands. The Federal Revenue said the traffickers used a technique called “rip-on/rip-off,” where they insert the drug into the container without the exporter’s knowledge.
The agency said it has seized 407 kg of cocaine at the port of Paraná in 2023.
TCP, the company that manages the Container Terminal of Paranaguá, said in a statement that it follows all security protocols and scans the containers with two scanners at the terminal. “The seized material is in the possession of the competent bodies, which are continuing the investigations to determine the responsibilities,” the statement said.
