Ending logistical bottlenecks in access to the Port of Santos is a priority for companies and entities

Representatives of companies installed in the Industrial District of Alemoa are seeking solutions with municipal, state and federal authorities to eliminate logistical bottlenecks faced daily in land accesses to the Port of Santos. They demand that the Government build two viaducts, one for the exit of Alemoa and the other included in the project for the Internal Railway of the Port of Santos (Fips). Another wish is a new road connection between Planalto and Baixada Santista.

Last Tuesday, the topic was discussed at a meeting at the Commercial Association of Santos (ACS) with the Frente Pró-Acessos Terrestres ao Porto de Santos. Representatives of the Brazilian Association of Retroport Terminals and Container Transport Companies (ABTTC), the Union of Commercial Cargo Transport Companies of the Coast of São Paulo (Sindisan) and the Association of Companies of the Industrial and Port District of Alemoa (AMA) participated in the meeting, among others.

“We discuss individual action strategies with each government. There are actions that belong to the City Hall, others to the State Government, such as a new road connection, and others to the Federal Government, referring to infrastructure works”, detailed the president of the ACS, Mauro Sammarco.

He explained that, in the morning, there was a meeting with representatives of companies from the Industrial District of Alemoa and the secretary of Port Affairs and Employment of Santos, Bruno Orlandi. On the occasion, Orlandi was asked that the City Hall forward to the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) the request for the construction of an exit viaduct in Alemoa, the result of a project donated by ABTTC and AMA.

Sammarco also said that the front will ask the Port Authority for “information on the Fips schedule, because the project includes the construction of an access viaduct. “These two viaducts are important, one is already contemplated within Fips and we want to know when it will be built”.

ABTTC vice-president, Luiz Alberto Azevedo Levy Jr., pointed out that the project for an exit viaduct was contracted and funded jointly by ABTTC and AMA in 2021 and forwarded to the City of Santos, “which would proceed together councilors and deputies so that we could get the money to carry out the work”.

According to him, “the second access is important, as we estimate that between 7,000 and 8,000 trucks flow into the Alemoa neighborhood per day, from Monday to Saturday. With a single access, the stress is very great”.

The group also intends to schedule a meeting with the State Government to discuss the best road solution connecting the Planalto to Baixada Santista, in search of a viable alternative to the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI). The aim is to speed up the project and the application for environmental licenses.
