Port of Santos leads drug seizures, points out Directory

The Port of Santos registered the mark of 16 tons of narcotics seized by the Federal Revenue Service in 2022. The number, released last Friday (21st) through the document Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública 2023, prepared by the Federal Revenue Service, is equivalent to 67 .7% of the drugs recovered throughout Brazil and places the port of Santos at the top of the list as the main focus of seizures among the listed equipment.
The statistics of the 17th Directory of Public Security, which were released on the 20th, gather information collected from Public Security secretariats and related bodies in each of the states. The complete list can be seen on the portal accessed through the link ‘forumseguranca.org.br’.
The Port of Barcarena, in Pará, ranked second in the Directory, with more than 2.7 tons of narcotics seized. Next is the Port of Itajaí, in Santa Catarina, with 1.3 tons and the Port of Paranaguá, in Paraná, 1.1 tons of drugs located by the authorities.
COMPARATIVE
Adding up all the drugs seized in the ports covered by the Yearbook, with the help of figures passed on by the Federal Revenue, Brazil totaled, in 2022, more than 23 tons of narcotics in national anchorages. The number represents a 39.2% drop in the amount of drugs found by authorities in 2021, when seizures totaled more than 39 tons of illicit substances.
