Pork exports remained above 90 thousand tons in July

The first information released about the closure of pork exports during July point to a small monthly decline in volume and revenue.

The volume disclosed by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services was 94.2 thousand tons exported, equivalent to a drop of 3.1% over last June, while presenting an increase of 7.2% over July last year, confirming for the fifth consecutive month above 90 thousand tons.

The accumulated result from January to July was a volume of almost 621 thousand tons, meaning increases of 13.7%, 4.6% and 69.6% over, respectively, the same periods last year, the year before and before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The chart below shows the volume of Brazilian pork shipped between Jan 2019 and May 2023, according to the DataLiner maritime intelligence service.

The revenue obtained in the month of July, in turn, presented a monthly drop of 6%, while it showed an increase of 11.6% over July of last year. The accumulated in the first seven months showed positive rates of 24.8%, 3.9% and 96.6% over, respectively, the same periods of 2022, 2021 and 2019.
