Santos Brasil has increased the capacity of its Customs Industrial Logistic Center (Clia) in Santos by 24%, following the launch of a fully renovated and vertically integrated warehouse, alongside the implementation of new management systems and processes. These upgrades guarantee an elevated level of efficiency and safety.
Between 2022 and 2023, investments totaling R$30 million have been allocated to the unit. This includes R$12 million for Clia’s expansion, R$11.5 million for IT improvements encompassing equipment replacement and modernization, R$5 million for safety, health, environment, and property security projects, and R$1.5 million for operating equipment for the Integrated Logistics Control Center (CCI).
Through this revamp, Clia Santos, which features five warehouses, has increased its pallet positions from 5,500 to 6,800, translating to 17,000 dynamic positions monthly.
The modern CCI, dedicated to managing and monitoring all operations, will gain further sophistication once new resources like tablets, Wi-Fi antennas, and additional panels are incorporated.
This advanced system offers real-time performance indicator management, analysis of current and future yard and warehouse occupancy scenarios, and operational statistics. Consequently, it brings about heightened productivity, agility, efficiency in resource allocation, and traceability.
According to Ricardo Buteri, Commercial Director at Santos Brasil, this process is key to the company’s strategy to cement its position as the most efficient provider for LCL (Less Container Load) operations. “We are fully equipped to address the growing demand for bonded fractional cargo services, enhancing our storage, stuffing, and unloading services offerings for containers within the Baixada region. This further broadens the logistical capacity of the Port of Santos. Technological investment is a pivotal and intrinsic aspect of our strategy, aimed at evolving increasingly dynamic and productive operational solutions for the market,” he asserts.
Santos Brasil is the sole company with customs facilities on both sides of the Port of Santos, encompassing Clia Santos and Guarujá, which encourages synergy and streamlines customer operations.
