Sep, 11, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202338
The dredging project for the access channel and turning basin of the Port of Cabedelo in João Pessoa commenced on Monday (11). The deepening of the channel from 9.14 meters to 11 meters allows the terminal to receive larger vessels, accommodating ships of up to 55,000 tonnes.
One of the key goals of this change is to enhance the port’s competitiveness and generate new jobs. Approximately BRL 120 million were invested in the project, financed by the Paraíba State Government.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Governor João Azevêdo. Additionally, two warehouses, refurbished at a cost of R$5 million, were delivered. Within this space, the “Porto Cidade” program was launched, aiming to promote social development for workers and the entire Port of Cabedelo community in the areas of education, culture, technology, sustainability, and healthcare.
