Seven bidders participated in the public first stage of the Simplified Selection Process to determine the next temporary concession-holder of an area in the Organized Port of Itajaí in Santa Catarina. The procedure occurred at the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) headquarters on Wednesday (13).
The winning proposal among the seven bidders was from MMS Empreendimentos Ltda, which committed to a minimum monthly throughput of 66,600 TEUs.
It is worth noting that Antaq’s Permanent Commission for Lease Bidding (CPLA/ANTAQ) is still yet to review the paperwork submitted alongside the winning bid that corresponds to the temporary lease proposal. The commission’s decision and rationale will be published next Tuesday (19).
The contract stipulates that the winning company will operate in the port for two years, a period that may be extended under conditions specified in the Tender Notice at the discretion of the Federal Government.
The area in question covers 79,946.42 m² and includes berths 1 and 2, designated as “Area A,” consisting of the land on which equipment and buildings will be installed, in accordance with the rules set out in the Contract and its Annexes.
The public session was attended by the Director-General of ANTAQ, Eduardo Nery, who explained the next steps of the simplified selection process. He emphasized that the technical team of the Agency will analyze all the documentation of the proponents before declaring the winner.
“We are very pleased with the number of bidders in the process. This shows that we have created an attractive proposal to help revive activities in the port of Santa Catarina. Now, we will move on to the next stages of document analysis to determine if the winning bidder is duly qualified to meet the throughput presented on file,” he said.
In addition to the Director-General, the Secretary-Executive of the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), Roberto Gusmão, was present, who commented on the number of proponents and the TEUs offered by the proponent.
“We have managed to pass another stage to solve this issue of cargo movement in the Port of Itajaí. We are encouraged by the number of proponents and very satisfied with the winning offer. This successful process is the result of hard work between MPor and ANTAQ,” he said.
Along with the Director-General and the Secretary-Executive, the session was attended by ANTAQ Directors Alber Vasconcelos and Caio Farias as the National Ports Secretary of MPor, Fabrizio Pierdomênico. The public session was conducted by the Special Concessions Advisor, Patrícia Gravina.
