See below the ranking of the most exported containerized commodities from Brazil and Plate region countries in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. The data used in this article were provided by Datamar’s Business Intelligence department.

Brazil

Meat products took the lead in Brazilian exports from January to July 2023, with 355,545 TEUs, a 4.1% surge compared to the same period last year. Wood, the runner-up in this ranking, experienced a 17.4% drop in this same period. As for the third-ranked commodity, cellulose pulp, exports shrank by 1.6% in volume. Plastic leads the way in terms of imports, with 193,262 TEUs shipped between January and July 2023. The figures are up 24.8% from the same time period in 2022. The second group of products in the ranking, reactors, boilers, and machinery, shipped 18.1% greater volume abroad. Electrical equipment ranks third, with volumes 20.5% higher than in the first seven months of 2022. See the full list below:

Argentina

Vegetable products took the top export position among shipments via containers from January to July 2023, with 45,007 TEUs, followed by meat, with 43,715 TEUs. The volume of meat exported is 9.1% higher than in the same period in 2022. See the full ranking below:

In terms of imports, Reactors, Boilers, and Machinery lead the Argentine ranking, with 50,537 TEUs imported from abroad between January and July 2023, a volume that is nearly stable compared to the 50,100 TEUs imported in the same period in 2022. Automobiles and components, which were in second place, increased by 0.4% in the same period. See more below:

In terms of the other Plate countries (Paraguay and Uruguay), wood leads the export ranking, with 24,446 TEUs shipped from January to July 2023, a volume 16% lower than in the same period in 2022. Meat, which came in second, fell 23% in the same comparison. Here are some  more examples:

Automobiles and Parts ranked first in imports from Paraguay and Uruguay, with 22,012 TEUs received in the first seven months of the year, a volume 3.8% higher than in the same period in 2022. Reactors, Boilers, and Machines grew 8.3% in the same comparison period. Look:
