Wilson Sons Records Transshipment Growth in at Tecon Rio Grande

Wilson Sons recorded a significant growth in the transshipment operations at Tecon Rio Grande (RS). This procedure involves connecting two maritime routes, transferring containers between ships, and connecting cargoes to different regions of the world. In October, it reached 10,032 TEUs, marking a remarkable increase of 111% compared to last year. The total growth for the year (January to October) was 41%.

The operations included cargoes of rice, beef, chemicals, wood, and general food products. Uruguay, Argentina, Singapore, and the United States were the main sources of goods, while the primary destinations included Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, and the United States.

With a strategic location, Tecon Rio Grande has made significant investments in quay and yard equipment over its 26 years, reaching the capacity to handle 1.4 million TEUs and accommodate the largest vessels sailing worldwide. “The terminal’s infrastructure allows us to achieve results like these. Berth availability, 900 meters of quay, productivity, and the use of technology and automation position us as the best alternative for transshipment in the Cone South,” argues Rodrigo Velho, Commercial Director of Tecon Rio Grande.

“This growth shows our vocation and ability to operate efficiently, which was very well presented by us in a business roadshow in Asia in September, where we could highlight the terminal’s differentials and our planning for the coming years,” he adds. According to Velho, this significant result demonstrates the terminal’s ability to absorb new services promptly. “Tecon Rio Grande is ready to further boost its transshipment volumes, with safety and efficiency, leveraging its natural access conditions and consolidating itself as a cargo hub port,” he notes.
