Minerva Foods Gains Approval to Export Beef to the United States

Minerva Foods has secured approval from the Paraguayan Servicio Nacional de Calidad y Salud Animal (National Service of Quality and Animal Health) to export beef to the United States.

According to the company, the only remaining steps are bureaucratic procedures for the accreditation of Paraguayan production units and final authorization for the start of exports.

It’s worth noting that the company owns four production plants in Paraguay, with a total slaughtering capacity of 8,000 head/day. Once accredited, these units will join Minerva’s existing assets in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, expanding exposure and maximizing the arbitrage capacity for the American market.

Minerva’s presence in the North American market includes 13 production units with a combined slaughtering capacity of approximately 16,000 head of cattle per day. This includes seven plants in Brazil, four in Uruguay, and two in Argentina.

With a population of around 340 million, the United States is a significant consumer market for premium beef. In 2022, the country imported approximately 1,538,000 tons of beef, making it the second-largest beef importer globally.
