Brazil Granted Pre-Listing Regulatory Status for Animal Protein Exports to Singapore
Dec, 11, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202345
The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement from Singapore‘s health regulatory agency that Brazil has been elevated to pre-listing status for exporting beef, pork, lamb, and chicken, as well as their processed products.
The approval of the pre-listing process, wherein the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (Mapa) is now responsible for accrediting eligible slaughterhouses to export to Singapore, reflects the confidence of the Singaporean government in the quality of the Brazilian sanitary system.
In 2022, Brazil exported approximately US$600 million worth of meat and meat products to Singapore.
This recent development adds to the recent opening of the Singaporean market to Brazilian bovine and porcine gelatin, collagen, frozen crustaceans, bivalve mollusks, and processed beef and pork. These advancements are expected to contribute to trade growth between the two countries.
