Brazilian exports of poultry genetics exports grow 54.9% in November

According to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Brazilian poultry genetics exports reached 2,321 tonnes in November, marking a 54.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022, which recorded 1,498 tonnes.

The revenue from these exports amounted to USD 19.238 million, a 1.7% decrease compared to November 2022, which saw a total of USD 19.576 million.

Year-to-date figures until November show poultry genetics shipments totaling 23,893 tonnes, a 72.4% increase compared to the 13,857 tonnes exported in the first eleven months of 2022. Compared to last year, revenue grew by 38.2%, reaching USD 219.8 million in 2023 from USD 159 million in 2022.

Destinations-wise, Mexico kept the lead in 2023, importing 12,723 tonnes between January and November this year, a 94% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Other notable importers include Senegal with 3,538 tonnes (+9.8%), Paraguay with 2,436 tonnes (-3.8%), Peru with 1,455 tonnes (+898.4%), and South Africa with 1,362 tonnes (with no recorded shipments in 2022).

Ricardo Santin, President of ABPA, notes, “The Brazilian poultry genetics sector has played a crucial role in replenishing stocks in countries affected by outbreaks of Avian Influenza. For example, South Africa rapidly increased its imports and took the top spot among Brazilian export destinations in November.”
