Paraguay celebrates 1st beef shipment to the United States milestone

On Wednesday, December 20, Paraguay achieved a historic milestone with the first shipment of beef containers destined for the United States market after seven years of effort.

The first four containers were sent to the American market about 40 days after receiving official approval. The sending ceremony took place in the morning at the Frigomerc slaughterhouse in Asunción, with the presence of the Head of State, Santiago Peña, and the United States Ambassador to Paraguay, Marc Ostfield, among other high-ranking officials.

As the Paraguayan meat sets sail for one of the world’s most important markets, Randy Ross, the president of the Paraguayan Chamber of Meat (CPC), emphasized the celebratory nature of the occasion.

He also stressed the importance of doubling down on increased trade collaboration between the two countries, stating their alliance will be strengthened as economic relationships grow to expand the shipment of sustainable and high-quality food, generating employment and development for both nations.

In the same vein, he encouraged the Executive to continue working with the American government to achieve bilateral agreements, thereby securing tariff preferences and individual quotas for meat and many other products.

“We are confident that strengthening trade ties will bring great benefits to both countries. With the shipment of this first container of Paraguayan meat to the United States, we are closing a year of hard work, and we are more committed than ever to continue supporting the national industry,” he expressed.
