Port of Maceió qualified for Brazil’s Federal Privatization Program

The Federal Government has included the Port of Maceió in the list of public assets eligible for concession to the private sector. The decree, signed by President Lula, was published in the country’s Official Gazette this Wednesday (24).
The decree makes MAC15, a terminal in the capital of Alagoas, fit for inclusion in the Investment Partnerships Program of the Presidency of the Republic (PPI). This program aims to establish partnership contracts between the Public Power and the private sector, along with other privatization measures.
The terminal covers an area of 41,818 square meters dedicated to cargo operations with solid bulk goods, particularly salt.

In addition to Maceió, some terminals in the Ports of Vila do Conde (PA), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Santana (AP), Recife (PE), and Porto Alegre (RS) have also been included in the PPI.
