Indian business group eyes timber export operations through Rio Grande Port
Jan, 24, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202404
Making Brazil’s Port of Rio Grande an exporter of timber to India has sparked interest from an Indian business group visiting the country since last week. The company holds industry expertise and already imports timber from the United States, Uruguay, and Argentina.
The idea is to make recurrent shipments of timber logs throughout the year. The visits conducted at the public port of Rio Grande, the Rio Grande Shipyard (ERG), and the Container Terminal (Tecon) allowed investors to familiarize themselves with local logistics for these materials.
According to Sandro Oliveira, Director of Institutional Relations at Portos RS, the Indian executives were impressed with the quality of the infrastructure available at the public port and within the port complex area.
