Brazilian Alliance for Port Decarbonization Launched at Intermodal 2024

Several port authorities joined the Brazilian Alliance for Port Decarbonization on Wednesday (06). The signing ceremony took place at the Itaqui Port Stand during the 28th edition of Intermodal South America – International Fair of Logistics, Cargo Transport, and Foreign Trade, held at the São Paulo Expo.

“It is with great honor and responsibility that we join forces to move forward with this project, developing the best environmental practices in partnership with all the signatories,” commented Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná and president of ABEPH (Brazilian Association of Port and Waterway Organizations).

The Alliance is the result of a partnership with Fundaciòn ValenciaPort, a Spanish institution that is a global reference in the port sector. Its goal is to exchange experiences and information to accelerate the decarbonization process of the Brazilian port sector.

In addition to the ports of Paraná, signatories to the Alliance include the Port of Itaqui, Port of Açu, Port Sudeste, Suape, Portos RS, Santos Brasil, CLI (Logistics and Infrastructure Corridor), TEGRAM Consortium (Maranhão Grains Terminal), Bunker One, ZCarbon Decarbonization Solutions, and PortGreen Consulting. Among the project supporters are the National Secretariat of Ports and Waterway Transportation, ATP (Association of Private Port Terminals), ABEPH, and ABTP (Brazilian Association of Port Terminals).
