Salvador container terminal expands calls to the international market
Mar, 18, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202412
Good news to exporters and importers in Brazil: Maersk announced the reinstitution of the UCLA service via Tecon Salvador starting in March.
As a result, Wilson Sons expanded its weekly ship offering at Tecon Salvador, with calls in Central America and the US, to serve the export and import markets. With the return of Maersk’s service, the Bahian terminal now has four connection services branching out to the main ports in these regions.
Demir Lourenço, executive director of Tecon Salvador, highlights several competitive advantages behind the UCLA service’s revival. These strategies include addressing existing bottlenecks in other ports and capitalizing on Tecon Salvador’s unique offerings, such as its strategic location. Situated amidst the well-equipped infrastructure and favorable natural conditions of Todos-os-Santos Bay, the terminal provides excellent accessibility by both sea and road routes.
