Brazil gives additional 6 months for transition of export credit insurance

The Brazilian federal government has extended the transition period for the concession of Export Credit Insurance (SCE) by six months, which was set to expire in the coming weeks. SCE is a form of insurance granted by the Union for exports exceeding two years.

The extension was announced through a decree published this Wednesday (21) in Brazil’s Official Gazette of the Union (DOU). Since September of last year, the Union’s plan has been for the concession to move from the Export Financing and Guarantee Committee (Cofig) to the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) – both linked to the federal government.

“The extension was deemed necessary due to the complexity of the issues and the need for better preparation for the transition,” said the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) in a written statement provided to Valor.
