Canada opens market for gelatin and collagen of porcine origin

The Brazilian government has gotten word that the country is now apt to export pork gelatin and collagen to Canada without requiring health certification.
Trade in agricultural products between Brazil and Canada has been steadily increasing, demonstrating the confidence placed in Brazil’s national sanitary control system.
This latest announcement marks the 23rd market opening for Brazilian agribusiness in 17 countries this year alone. Since the beginning of President Lula’s third term, a total of 101 new markets have been opened.
In 2023, Canada ranked as the 28th largest destination for Brazilian agribusiness exports, totaling US$1.05 billion.
The opening of this new market is the result of coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), along with active participation from the Brazilian agricultural sector.
