“We are here to showcase our products and our infrastructure prowess to help others perceive the potential of our state as a cargo hub in the Brazilian Northeast,” emphasized Governor Raquel Lyra, who attended the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of Fruit Attraction on Tuesday (16) in São Paulo. Fruit Attraction stands as one of the world’s major international events in the produce sector.
The state of Pernambuco is one of the exhibitors at the fair, which will run until Thursday (18), with a booth of approximately 170 square meters. Held in Brazil for the first time, the fair aims to strengthen the country’s presence in the national and international produce market.
During her participation, the head of the Executive emphasized the importance of the event. “An event of this caliber fosters fresh business opportunities, encouraging the establishment of new fruit farms—a reality made feasible by the São Francisco River transposition. Furthermore, the ongoing construction of the Transnordestina Railway, linking the [semi-arid] Sertão region to the Port of Suape, promises to slash export costs while enhancing competitiveness.”
Representatives from the Port of Suape, the Secretariat of Agricultural Development, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA), the Center for Supply and Logistics of Pernambuco (Ceasa), and the Development Agency of Pernambuco (Adepe) are present at the Government of Pernambuco’s booth.
According to Adepe’s CEO, André Teixeira Filho, the main goal of the Government of Pernambuco is to forge new pathways for the state’s agricultural producers. “We have garnered recognition for our exports of grapes and mangoes cultivated along the São Francisco River. However, our potential extends far beyond, encompassing a rich variety of fruits such as bananas, coconuts, passion fruits, watermelons, pineapples, and guavas, all of which cater to the burgeoning regional market,” he elucidated.
