Starting May 15th, the ATLAS service will be operated by Mercosul Line, a cabotage carrier and multimodal logistics provider under the umbrella of the CMA CGM Group, with a 1,700 TEU vessel departing fortnightly to Santos. The ATLAS – Atlantic Shuttle – will also feature calls at the port of Buenos Aires during its southbound voyages.
ATLAS, an express service between Mar del Plata and the port of Santos, promises customers a notably reduced transit time of just 4 days. Beyond facilitating swift maritime connections between Argentina and Brazil, the service is poised to open up new avenues for Argentine exports to Brazil while offering extensive connectivity with major ports across Asia, Europe, and West Africa. The introduction of the ATLAS service underscores the CMA CGM Group’s commitment to Argentine foreign trade, highlighting the untapped potential of the central and southern regions of Buenos Aires province to bolster the development of Mar del Plata.
Jorge La Torre, General Manager of CMA CGM Argentina, expressed optimism about the reception of the new service among customers, stating, “We are confident that our customers will appreciate the benefits of this new service and will join us in this challenge.”
With nearly two decades of presence in Argentina, the CMA CGM Group currently operates 5 maritime services across 2 ports in the country. Leveraging a workforce of over 25 employees and a robust intermodal network facilitated by CEVA Logistics and Mercosul Line, the Group remains steadfast in its commitment to facilitating efficient and seamless global trade operations.
