Bhutan opens market for Brazilian pork
May, 14, 2024 Posted by Sylvia SchandertWeek 202420
The Brazilian government has welcomed the Bhutanese government’s announcement granting sanitary approval for the export of pork from Brazil to the country.
This marks the second market opening in Bhutan within the last six months, following the authorization for the export of poultry meat granted last December. Bhutan’s imports of Brazilian agribusiness products surged in 2023, reaching over US$ 3.33 million, nearly doubling the figure recorded in 2022 at US$ 1.75 million.
This recent development marks the 42nd market opening achieved by Brazilian agribusiness this year alone, contributing to a total of 120 openings across 50 countries since the beginning of President Lula’s third term.
The successful opening of this new market is attributed to coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
