Asia Shipping had significant growth in its air freight operations, which increased by 41% in the first four months of January to April 2024 compared to the previous year, outpacing the market rate of 7%.

According to Eduardo Rosa, responsible for Air Export Business Development at Asia Shipping, the company’s recent performance derives from a combination of factors, including 55 new contracts (some of them exclusive deals), migration of some shipments from maritime to air freight due to lack of available space in ships and the consequences of the war in the Middle East, not to mention the demand growth in Asia. Currently, South America is the leading destination for air exports, albeit shipments to Central America, Mexico, and China have grown recently, especially in the machinery and auto parts market.

The executive explained that Asia Shipping’s air exports grew 5% in 2023 vis-a-vis a 30% drop in the overall market. “Fortunately, we experienced an increase in demand from January to April and we hope to end 2024 with a 20% increase in the cargo volume transported by air  – double the market expectation.”

According to Rosa, the expertise of the Brazilian company with various transport modes allows the sales team to identify the best strategy for each client depending on the cargo type, volume, and transit times. “When delivery is urgent, many companies opt for air transportation. A cargo flown to takes a maximum of three days to reach its destination”, explains the executive.

“Regardless of the mode, Asia Shipping shows that it is a powerhouse in cargo transportation, being the only freight integrator in Latin America to appear in the Ranking of the 50 largest forwarders in the world. Our difference lies in offering an end-to-end service, which prioritizes personalized customer service. We do that with the aid of an innovative cloud platform, powered by Artificial Intelligence, and with a highly specialized team to meet the main needs of foreign trade”, added Rafael Dantas, Sales Director at Asia Shipping.
