On Monday, June 17, 2024, the Pernambuco state government, through its representation at the Suape Port Industrial Complex, signed a memorandum of understanding with Arhyze, a French company specializing in renewable energy and hydrogen production, to develop an ambitious industrial project. This initiative aims to produce green hydrogen, green ammonia, and e-methanol, marking another step toward decarbonization and a fair, green energy transition, emphasizing the potential of low-carbon hydrogen and its production chain.
Arhyze, known for its multifunctional projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, is expected to invest approximately BRL 2 billion in Suape. The project’s first phase will focus on the production of 100,000 tons of e-methanol in a single year, with operations scheduled to begin in 2028.
Memorandum 2
Suape was strategically selected due to its prime location in Brazil’s Northeast region, positioning it as a hub for industrial production and distribution for the domestic market and for exporting low-carbon hydrogen. The establishment of this industry has the potential to generate substantial employment opportunities through new technologies and investments, promote innovative business models, and integrate the State of Pernambuco into the global value chain.
Memorandum 3
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures, including Maurício Laranjeira, Executive Secretary of Investment Attraction of Pernambuco; Guilherme Sá, Executive Secretary of Energy; Marcio Guiot, CEO of Suape; Mathieu Coustets, CEO of Arhyze; Arthur Neves, Director of Industrial Development and Management at Suape; Adriana Martin, Director of Innovation and Digital Transformation; and François Maugin, Head of Innovation and Partnerships at Arhyze.
With this innovative venture, Arhyze reaffirms its commitment to leading the way in sustainable energy and reducing carbon emissions. The collaboration promises to set new standards in the green energy sector, highlighting the role of the Pernambuco region as a key player in the global transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
