Chilean exports of fresh fruits hit record numbers during the first half of 2024, according to data from ProChile.

Specifically, cherry shipments exceeded $1.961 billion, reflecting a 26% increase over the same period last year.

Similarly, the export value of blueberries reached $403 million in the first half, a 21.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023 and very close to the historical peak recorded in 2021.

The top destination markets were the United States ($172 million, up 6.5% from January to June of last year), Germany ($37 million, almost double the record from the previous year), and the United Kingdom ($34 million).

Plums also reached record numbers, with an export value increase of over 40% compared to the same period last year. Peaches and nectarines accumulated shipments of $164 million, a 25% increase, with exports mainly to China, the United States, and Mexico.

Other significant increases in the first half were documented for kiwi exports ($139 million, an increase of almost 13%) and grape exports ($931 million, an increase of 17%).

“Chilean fruits have gained a foothold in the world due to their quality, safety, and flavor, boosting the agricultural sector in the country, which surpassed $7 billion in exports this semester, almost 9% more than the same period last year,” said ProChile’s Director General, Ignacio Fernández.
