Brazil to export live horses to Costa Rica

The Brazilian government has welcomed Costa Rica’s decision to allow the export of live horses from Brazil. This new market opening is expected to enhance trade flows between the two countries.

Costa Rica is a significant destination for Brazilian agricultural products. The main exports include cereals, flours and preparations, forestry products, and soy products. In 2023, Brazilian agricultural exports to Costa Rica reached US$272 million. In the first half of 2024 alone, they have already reached US$153 million.

Additionally, in February, Brazil opened a market in Costa Rica for exporting products based on mesenchymal stem cells from dogs, cats, and horses for therapeutic purposes.

With this latest development, Brazilian agriculture will reach its 86th market opening in 2024, totaling 164 openings in 54 countries since the beginning of 2023.

This expansion reflects the growing international demand for Brazilian agricultural products and strengthens the economic ties between Brazil and Costa Rica.
