Brazilian exports to Libya up

Exports from Brazil to Libya rose from January to June this year compared to the same period in the past five years. According to data from Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, exports to the North African country added up to USD 368 million. No imports were posted year to date through June, though.

According do data from the trade ministry, top exported product from Brazil to Libya in the first half was iron ore, at USD 147.6 million. Second came beef, reaching USD 98.2 million, followed by cane sugar and beet sugar, totaling USD 60.6 million, poultry (USD 37.7 million), and coffee (USD 11,3 million).

This year’s exports outperformed the USD 156 million posted in the first half of 2023. January-to-June exports had reached USD 151.3 million in 2022, USD 156.6 million in 2021, USD 99.7 million in 2020, and USD 106 million in 2019.

Imports don’t follow the same path as exports
Brazil’s trade minister didn’t post any imports from Liby through June this year. From January to June last year, Brazil’s imports from Libya added up to USD 81,400 worth of aluminum products. In 2021, USD 665,400 worth of fertilizers were imported. In 2020, USD 24.3 million worth of crude oil was imported, in 2019 USD 99 million worth of crude oil and USD 33.3 million worth of petroleum products, totaling USD 132.4 million.
