New offshore fuel supply operation comes to Sepetiba Port

Bunker One and Acelen are set to launch a supply operation this month at an offshore anchorage area near the Port of Sepetiba, Rio de Janeiro state, providing fuel without the need for docking. This marks the second operation between the two companies, following their initial partnership in September in the São Marcos Bay region.
According to Bunker One, supplying fuel in external anchorage areas ensures fueling does not interfere with loading and unloading operations at terminals, optimizing port waiting times. “In addition to bulk carriers and large cargo ships, the oil and gas sector is expected to benefit from this new service, given the proximity of some of the main oil fields in the Santos Basin to Sepetiba,” the company stated. The operation aims to supply 20,000 tons of bunker fuel per month in Sepetiba.
Additionally, Bunker One and Acelen are preparing to offer a blend with biofuels shortly in response to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP)’s recent decision to amend Resolution 903 to allow the sale of up to 24% marine biodiesel.
