The Brazilian natural stone market reached a new milestone in 2024, recording its best cumulative performance for the January-to-April year-to-date period in the last decade. Sector-specific exports grew by 15.7% over the first four months of the year, generating $387.9 million in business earnings. The Brazilian Center of Ornamental Stone Exporters (Centrorochas) released this information on August 22.
The top destinations for these exports were the United States, accounting for 58.06% of the total, followed by China at 14.10%, Italy at 6.75%, Mexico at 5.06%, and the United Kingdom at 1.68%. During this period, U.S. demand for natural stones surged by 30.2%, driven primarily by quartzite, which represented 55.06% of all exports and saw a 57.03% year-on-year increase.
“We are excited about the positive results achieved by the natural stone sector so far. Since January, we have participated in four major initiatives through the ‘It’s Natural – Brazilian Natural Stone’ program, an export incentive initiative developed by Centrorochas and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). Three of these events were in the United States, and one was in China. The international market’s acceptance of our products is always a source of pride,” said Tales Machado, president of the National Natural Stone Association.
