Argentina: TecPlata completes dredging, reaches 10-meter draft

The TecPlata container terminal, part of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) portfolio, located in La Plata near the Port of Buenos Aires, has completed the dredging of its channel, reaching a depth of 10 meters.
“The TecPlata terminal was designed with a direct advantage over the terminals in Buenos Aires, whose channels are limited to a depth of 10 meters,” said Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata’s Executive Director.
Trujillo also highlighted the company’s next goal: “Our aim is to deepen the access channel to 14 meters, developing a project similar to the container terminal’s and positioning Argentina at the same level, or even ahead, of other ports in the region. This will give TecPlata a unique competitive edge over other ports in the Buenos Aires area.”
TecPlata has a projected capacity of over one million TEUs, making it well-suited to accommodate any significant increase in foreign trade in the coming years. This will strengthen TecPlata’s position as the preferred gateway, solidifying Argentina’s role in the global supply chain.
