A leader in the refrigerated cargo market in Northeast Brazil—particularly in the fruit sector—FTrade is expanding its reach and exploring new opportunities in the South and Southeast regions. Based in Fortaleza, with deep expertise in the reefer segment, FTrade has strategically positioned one of its top executives in São Paulo to strengthen its presence in other regions and tap into new business opportunities across the country.
The company is aiming to pursue new ventures in the fruit market in the South and Southeast, along with sectors focused on animal proteins—including pork, fish, beef, and chicken—as well as other products like ginger, sweet potatoes, yams, and frozen juices. According to Frederico Lemos, FTrade’s Commercial Manager for the South and Southeast, ginger exports have gained prominence, helping to diversify the company’s operations in the Southeast region.
In 2023, FTrade handled the international logistics for 28% of Brazil’s total ginger exports, primarily shipping the product to the United States and Northern Europe. This year, by working more closely with the production region in the interior of Espírito Santo, the company has secured new business and expects to reach the end of 2024 with at least 35% of the market share in ginger exports.
Additionally, this semester, FTrade closed new deals in horse meat exports. The shipments are bound for the Port of Antwerp in Belgium and will then be distributed to other European countries, including Italy. “Our main challenge is to showcase FTrade’s vast potential in the reefer segment across a variety of niches beyond fruit,” explains Frederico Lemos, who brings extensive professional experience, having worked with some of the world’s leading shipping companies.
National Leader in Fruit Exports
FTrade’s leadership in the fruit export segment solidifies its position as one of the major players in Brazil’s refrigerated cargo market. In 2023, the company further strengthened its leadership among Brazilian freight forwarders in this sector, handling exports of mangoes, grapes, lemons, melons, watermelons, and apples.
An efficient logistics infrastructure is a critical pillar of success in the perishable goods sector. The short shelf life of these products demands meticulous planning and flawless execution at every stage of the logistics chain, from production to the final consumer. To meet these demanding requirements, FTrade continuously invests in technology and innovation, optimizing processes to provide more efficient solutions to the market.
