Tilapia: Exports Decline in August
Sep, 12, 2024 Posted by Sylvia SchandertWeek 202437
Brazilian tilapia exports (fillets and by-products) fell in August, according to data from Cepea. This marks a halt in the upward trend that had been observed since March.
According to Secex data analyzed by Cepea, external sales totaled 1,300 tons, a 29.1% decrease from July and only 2% above the same period last year.
As for tilapia prices, quotations continued to decline across all regions monitored by Cepea, although at a slower pace compared to the previous two months. Researchers attribute this to high fish supply coupled with weakened demand, contrasting with the situation observed in 2023.
