Low supply and exports sustain crystal sugar prices hike
Sep, 27, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202438
White crystal sugar prices in the spot market of São Paulo state continue to climb steadily. Researchers at Cepea attribute this upward trend to a decrease in domestic sugar availability caused by lower sugarcane productivity in São Paulo due to drought and high temperatures, coupled with robust exports throughout the year.
The chart below briefly overviews Brazil’s sugar exports measured in tonnes between January 2021 and July 2024. The information was derived from DataLiner.
