Brazilian Tilapia Exports Soar 60% in September Amidst Domestic Price Decline

Tilapia prices continued to drop throughout September, driven by an oversupply of large biomass fish still being kept in tanks and weakened domestic demand, according to researchers from Cepea.

Despite this challenging domestic scenario, Brazilian tilapia exports, including fillets and secondary products, experienced a significant increase during the same period. A total of 1.6 thousand tonnes were shipped in September, marking a 17.4% rise compared to August 2024 and an impressive 60.2% jump compared to September 2023.

This surge in exports reflects efforts to offload surplus production into international markets amid subdued domestic demand.
