TCP Expands Gate Operations to Include Extended Sunday Hours

The Paranaguá Container Terminal has expanded its Gate operations to include extended Sunday hours and provide additional access to the terminal’s yard. Since September, clients have been able to schedule container deliveries and pickups—both full and empty—during these newly added weekend slots.
“With extended Sunday operations, we’re increasing the number of weekly slots available, offering greater flexibility and operational capacity for our customers to manage their logistics chains,” said Giovanni Guidolim, TCP’s Commercial, Logistics, and Customer Service Manager. “This initiative also helps ease congestion on busier days like Mondays and Fridays.”
In 2024, TCP achieved record-breaking results. By the end of October, the terminal recorded a 34% year-on-year growth, handling over 1.25 million TEUs—matching the total volume for all of 2023. October alone saw a new monthly handling record, with 137,370 TEUs processed in just 31 days, the fourth such milestone achieved this year.
Most cargo moving through the Paranaguá Container Terminal relies on road transport, which saw a significant boost in efficiency this year thanks to the modernization of the terminal’s main Gate, completed in April 2024. The upgrades introduced advanced automation and safety technologies, increasing the Gate’s capacity by 200%, from 50 to 150 scheduled truck entries per hour. That same month, the terminal logged 54,984 container transactions—including both entries and exits—setting a new benchmark for this segment.
