In a Board meeting held last Thursday (12), the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ) submitted the concession model for the Paraguay River Waterway to the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor).
The Ministry’s analysis will be necessary to verify whether the proposed concession model aligns with the public policies established for the national waterway sector.
During his remarks, the case rapporteur, Director Alber Vasconcelos, emphasized the importance of waterway concessions in improving cargo flow and passenger transportation.
He also highlighted the forecasted investments in sustainable improvements for the waterway and noted that no environmental issues were identified. ANTAQ’s Director-General, Eduardo Nery, also praised the auction’s modeling.
Once MPor completes its review, public hearings and consultations will be opened to gather contributions, feedback, and suggestions to refine the modeling and proposed documents.
