Port of Rio Grande Records Highest November Cargo Volume in a Decade

In November 2024, the Port of Rio Grande achieved its highest cargo volume for the month in the past 10 years, handling 4,140,041 tons. This represents a growth of 117% compared to November 2014, when 1,909,345 tons were processed.
The main origins of imports during this period were China, with 1,357,468 tons; Argentina, with 1,726,589 tons; the United States, with 857,539 tons; and Russia, with 659,456 tons. “This result reflects the recovery actions taken in Rio Grande do Sul after recent calamities. Additionally, it demonstrates the strengthening of Portos RS as a logistical hub,” highlighted Cristiano Klinger, president of Portos RS.
The most handled cargo types at the Rio Grande Port included soybean grain, meal, cellulose, and potassium chloride, solidifying the Port of Rio Grande’s role as a key logistical hub for the flow of commodities and essential products for the national economy.
