Brazil has reached a historic milestone in agribusiness, opening 300 new international markets in less than two years. This achievement cements the country as one of the leading global players in the sector.

The result was achieved in just over 23 months, thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). Since the start of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s third term, 62 new destinations have been added to Brazil’s export portfolio, expanding the diversity of markets and products reached.

“Today, we celebrate a historic achievement for Brazil’s agricultural sector. These 300 markets opened during President Lula’s third term are generating jobs and opportunities for our farmers, livestock producers, and everyone involved in this productive chain. In 2025, we will maintain the same commitment and determination, striving for even greater achievements for agribusiness and ensuring that Brazil continues to grow, creating more opportunities for Brazilians,” stated Carlos Fávaro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

Diversification has been one of the key factors for this success. In addition to traditional exports of meat and grains, items such as embryos, sesame, fresh grapes, yerba mate, sorghum, powdered açaí, seeds, pecan nuts, and animal recycling products like poultry feathers have been added to Brazil’s international agribusiness portfolio, finding new opportunities in foreign markets.

Another highlight was the expansion of Brazil’s agricultural attaché network. With the creation of 11 new strategic posts, Brazil now has 40 representatives abroad. These professionals play a crucial role in overcoming technical barriers and promoting Brazilian products internationally.

“A year to go down in history. Under Minister Carlos Fávaro’s leadership, we’ve seen a record in market openings and expansions, along with the largest increase in the number of agricultural attachés. The results are already visible in Brazil’s agribusiness export portfolio diversification. For 2025, we will further strengthen commercial promotion efforts in partnership with ApexBrasil and the MRE, ensuring that all opportunities being created are fully realized so Brazil continues to bolster its position in the geopolitics of peace,” emphasized Luís Rua, Secretary of Trade and International Relations.

With positive prospects for 2025, expectations include the continued opening of new markets, strengthening existing partnerships such as the collaboration with ApexBrasil, and intensified commercial promotion activities. These efforts are expected to drive significant growth in the volume and value of Brazilian agribusiness exports.
