The Port of São Francisco do Sul achieved savings of R$ 30 million in 2024 due to several measures aimed at streamlining purchasing processes and increasing efficiency in bidding procedures. The Procurement and Contracts Management team implemented strategies to ensure more competitive pricing and greater acquisition competitiveness.

The main initiative was reorganizing purchases, often grouped into batches, which boosted supplier interest.
This change resulted in an approximate 30% reduction in the bids’ reference value and the winning proposals’ final value.
Throughout the year, 65 product contracts (such as IT equipment and machine lubricants) and 59 service contracts (such as access channel dredging and waste collection) were signed, totaling 124 contracts.

The port’s president, Cleverton Vieira, highlighted that the savings generated will be reinvested in the port complex’s infrastructure and improved services. “This rationalization and pursuit of competitiveness resulted in very positive outcomes, reflecting good management and care for public funds,” he stated.

“This initiative aligns with Governor Jorginho Mello’s directive to reduce expenses in order to prioritize investments in the core activities of the public company, which is to provide suitable land and waterway infrastructure for our clients,” added the port’s president.

Another significant aspect was the reduction in failed bids. Most were successful, attracting participants from across the country, reinforcing the appropriateness of the values to market standards and the effectiveness of the adopted model.

According to Vieira, the cost reductions and improved competitiveness in bidding demonstrate the Port of São Francisco do Sul’s ongoing efforts to enhance its management and ensure the best use of public resources.
