Honey Exports Drop 32.8% in 2024, but Revenue Rises 17.9%

Brazilian natural honey exports fell 32.8% in 2024, totaling 28,555 tons, compared to 37,931 tons shipped the previous year. However, despite the decline in exported volume, foreign exchange revenue grew 17.9%, reaching $100.56 million. The data was released this Thursday (6) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), based on Agrostat Brasil.
The chart below shows the monthly pace of honey exports registered out of Brazilian ports between January 2021 and December 2024. The data was derived from Datamar’s DataLiner.

Piauí remained the national leader in exports, shipping 10,032 tons abroad and generating $25.54 million in Revenue. It was followed by Minas Gerais (7,761 tons, $21.48 million) and Santa Catarina (5,477 tons, $14.21 million). Paraná ranked fourth, exporting 3,969 tons and earning $10.39 million, marking a significant increase compared to 2023 when the state exported 2,626 tons and generated $7.28 million.
The United States was the top destination for Brazilian honey, purchasing 29,985 tons, which accounted for 60.6% of the total exported volume and generated $78.63 million in Revenue. Other key markets included Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Belgium.
