The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) successfully concluded its official mission to Germany, which took place from February 3 to 5. The Brazilian delegation participated in Fruit Logistica 2025, the world’s largest event for the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, and engaged in a series of strategic meetings with German authorities and industry representatives. The mission aimed to strengthen bilateral relations, expand the presence of Brazilian products in the international market, and reinforce Brazil’s image as a global leader in sustainable agribusiness.
Brazil’s participation in Fruit Logistica is crucial for promoting the country’s fruit exports. As one of the world’s largest producers, Brazil stands out not only for the quality and diversity of its products but also for its commitment to innovation and sustainable agricultural practices. With around 50 companies present at the event, coordinated by the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivative Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), the country consolidated its position as a strategic partner in supplying fresh and healthy food globally.
BILATERAL MEETINGS AND STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS
Beyond the trade fair, the mission included a meeting with Swantje Nilsson, Director-General of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Discussions covered trade cooperation between the two countries, the Mercosur-European Union Agreement, recent foot-and-mouth disease developments, and Brazil’s sustainable agricultural practices.
Another highlight was the participation of MAPA’s Secretary of Trade and International Relations, Luís Rua, as a speaker at the 18th Latin America Conference of the German Economy. During his presentation, he outlined business opportunities for German investors. He highlighted Brazilian initiatives such as the National Program for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures (PNCPD) and the Future Biofuels Law, reinforcing Brazil’s commitment to sustainable agricultural production.
DIALOGUE WITH STRATEGIC SECTORS AND THE MEDIA
The Brazilian delegation also discussed the European Union Deforestation-Free Supply Chains Regulation (EUDR) with representatives from the beef, soybean, and coffee sectors. Germany, the largest importer of Brazilian coffee in Europe, plays a crucial role in the product’s trade, making discussions on environmental regulations and strengthening exports even more significant.
To enhance the visibility of Brazil’s efforts, the mission also included a media briefing with the German press, highlighting progress in reducing deforestation, the sustainability practices of Brazilian agribusiness, and Brazil’s role as a reliable global food supplier.
With this mission, MAPA reaffirms Brazil’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and market expansion, ensuring that Brazilian agricultural products continue to gain ground in the global market.
