Coffee/Cepea: Despite Falling in February, Exports Are Record in the 24/25 Harvest
Mar, 19, 2025Despite falling in February, Brazilian coffee exports total 33.45 million bags in the current harvest partial period (from July 2024 to February 2025), a record for this interval according to the historical series from Cecafé (the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council).
Cepea researchers highlight that the 2024/25 season has been marked by high shipping volumes from the beginning. During that period, European Union legislation on the import of deforestation-free products advanced a large part of the coffee shipments—this movement occurred before the announcement of the postponement of the EU regulation.
The chart below reveals the trend of coffee bean exports from Brazil between January 2021 and January 2024. This information was derived from DataLiner.

The Research Center emphasizes that if the legislation were indeed to come into force in 2025, Brazilian coffee shipments could be limited. In the coming months, exports are expected to remain weak due to the low amount of coffee from the 2024/25 harvest, which is still available for negotiation during the off-season period.
