Data from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) shows that Brazilian chicken meat exports (including fresh and processed products) generated revenue of USD 906.1 million in April, a 2.7% increase compared to last year, when revenue reached USD 882.2 million.

In volume terms, exports totaled 475.9 thousand tons in April, very close to the 480.7 thousand tons shipped in April 2024, representing a slight drop of just 1.0%.

As a result, cumulative exports for the first four months of 2025 reached 1.86 million tons, a 9.5% increase over the same period in 2024 (1.70 million tons). In terms of revenue, exports totaled USD 3.49 billion in the first four months of the year, up 15.5% from USD 3.02 billion in 2024.

“April’s performance confirms the upward trend in chicken meat exports this year, with sustained high volumes and consistent revenue growth. Market diversification and strong results in destinations like the European Union and South Africa offset temporary declines in countries like China and Japan,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.

Among the main destinations in April, the highlights were:

  • China: 51.9 thousand tons (-10% vs. April 2024), with revenue of USD 127.1 million (-1.5%);
  • European Union: 26.8 thousand tons (+42.8%), with a sharp increase in revenue: USD 83.5 million (+65.2%);
  • South Africa: 26.5 thousand tons (-3.3%), with revenue of USD 14.9 million (-3.4%);
  • Mexico: 18 thousand tons (-4.6%), with revenue of USD 42.7 million (-5.6%);
  • Philippines: 26.9 thousand tons (-8.6%), but with a slight increase in revenue: USD 22.5 million (+1.1%).

“The growth of Brazilian chicken meat exports in higher value-added markets with strict technical requirements, especially the European Union, is noteworthy. This reinforces the sector’s competitiveness and the recognition of our products’ health standards and traceability,” Santin added.

Among exporting states, Paraná remains the leader, with shipments totaling 187.3 thousand tons in April (-4.8% compared to the same month last year). It is followed by Santa Catarina with 108.3 thousand tons (+4.2%), Rio Grande do Sul with 64.8 thousand tons (-6.4%), São Paulo with 27.7 thousand tons (+6.5%), and Goiás with 24.6 thousand tons (+5.9%).

ABPA expects the growth trend to continue through the first half of the year, positively impacting total exports in 2025. The sector remains attentive to international price dynamics, logistics, and ongoing sanitary negotiations, particularly in Middle Eastern and Asian markets.
