Last week, the Brazilian bean market experienced a price boost, particularly for carioca beans, with deals reaching R$ 280 per 60-kg sack. In contrast, black beans remain at lower price levels, ranging from R$ 110 to R$ 130 FOB at farms in Paraná.

On the export front, Brazil has already surpassed its entire 2023 annual volume of black bean exports in just the first few months of 2025. Shipments have reached 22,000 tons so far, making it the yearly second-largest volume ever, and there’s still more to be shipped before year-end.

Considering all bean varieties, Brazil exported a record 95,000 tons in the first four months of 2025, generating US$83 million in revenue—the highest four-month export volume ever recorded in the country’s history.

Black mung bean exports alone have already exceeded 30,000 tons to India. Notably, this surge in international sales has not led to shortages in the domestic market. On the contrary, exports are stimulating domestic production.
