Representatives from Ultracargo, a subsidiary of the Ultra Group, presented an expansion plan for their unit located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex during a meeting led by Armando Monteiro Bisneto, the CEO of the state-owned port authority. The expansion of the storage terminal within the port’s designated zone represents an investment of approximately BRL 155 million. Construction is expected to begin in 2025, with operations at the new facilities set to start in 2028.

“Ultracargo’s expansion project reinforces the strategic importance of our port for the storage and distribution of fuel throughout the region, other parts of Brazil, and abroad. It is another step toward consolidating Suape as the country’s leader in liquid bulk operations,” said Monteiro Bisneto.

The expansion plan includes the construction of four additional tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 m³, 25 meters in diameter, and 21.6 meters in height. These tanks will increase the storage capacity of gasoline, anhydrous, and hydrous ethanol.

Currently, the facility has a total storage capacity of 157,910 m³, of which 152,910 m³ are allocated to liquid bulk, distributed across 39 tanks. There is also a 5,000 m³ sphere dedicated to storing butadiene—an industrial chemical used as a monomer in the production of synthetic rubber.

Founded 87 years ago, the Ultra Group operates in mobility, energy, and logistics infrastructure through its subsidiaries Ipiranga, Ultragaz (which also has a facility at Suape), Ultracargo, and Hidrovias do Brasil.
