Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled USD 14.9 billion in May 2025. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, revenue from foreign sales fell 1.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. The volume shipped was 4.2% lower on the same basis of comparison.
Still, according to the Ministry, the declines were partially offset by a 2.9% increase in the average prices of exported products.
For the soybean complex, Brazilian sales totaled USD 6.53 billion in May, a 2.6% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. The sugar and ethanol complex registered USD 1.05 billion, a 29.5% decrease. In contrast, revenue from coffee exports rose to USD 1.34 billion, representing a 31.7% increase. The meat sector saw an 8.3% rise in revenue, reaching USD 2.31 billion, while forest products generated USD 1.55 billion, representing a slight increase of 0.3%.
Within the meat segment, the Ministry highlighted the performance of pork exports, which grew despite embargoes on Brazilian products after a case of avian flu was detected in a commercial flock. Brazil exported USD 274.4 million in pork in May 2025, representing a 30.6% increase from the same month in 2024, when exports totaled USD 210.1 million. The increase was mainly driven by demand from markets such as the Philippines, Chile, Japan, and Singapore.
China remained the leading destination for Brazilian agribusiness in May, accounting for 37.6% of total exports. Revenue reached USD 5.6 billion, representing a 2.9% increase compared to the same month in 2024. Soybeans in grain form remained the flagship product for Chinese imports, totaling USD 4.1 billion for 10.4 million tons shipped—a 4.7% drop in value but a 3.9% increase in volume, reflecting the decline in international market prices.
From January to May 2025, agribusiness exports totaled USD 67.5 billion, representing a 0.6% increase compared to the same period in the previous year (USD 67.1 billion). The share of the agricultural sector in Brazil’s total exports rose from 48.5% between January and May 2024 to 49.3% in the first five months of 2025 due to the decline in exports of other products during the period (-2.4%).
